After visiting the orphans, Jackie Chan was very excited to be appointed Goodwill Ambassador for “American Orphans Learning Chinese Kung Fu ”

Jackie Chan held a charity concert, “One Song for the Country, Same Blood of Excellent Kung Fu Spirit”, in Los Angeles' Chinatown. The concert was sponsored by the U.S.-China Artists Union. Joining Chan on stage were the New Lucky Seven (including Jack Tu, a former student of USA Wu Chi Kung Fu Academy), local and international martial arts troupes, and the principle of USA Wu Chi Kung Fu Academy, master Tao He.
The concert was also held for celebrating Jackie Chan to be appointed Goodwill Ambassador for “American Orphans Learning Chinese Kung Fu”, and a fund raising for local orphans’ charities. During the concert, Jackie Chan was awarded certificate of Goodwill Ambassador for “American Orphans Learn Chinese Kungfu” by Los Angeles’ city government.
Jackie Chan said that his dream is the same as other martial artists, and that is to promote Chinese culture to the rest of the world through Chinese martial arts. The main role of the Kung Fu was to help promote people’s interests to learn and understand Chinese culture. At the same time, the county of Los Angeles wishes the local orphans could improve confidence and survival skills by practicing Chinese martial arts.
As the Vice President of the U.S.-China Artists Union, Master Tao He contributed a lot to the success of the concert, as well accompanied Jackie Chan to visit the county of Los Angeles and met with one of the supervisors, Michael Antonovich. They discussed how to help the county’s 40,000 orphans through Chinese martial arts. To support Jackie Chan’s plan, master Tao He and USA Wu Chi Kung Fu Academy decided to hold short-term Kung Fu classes for the orphans and send out black belt level instructors to teach the children. Jackie Chan wrote “Self-Preservation through Perseverance” for the academy to show his appreciation.
Jackie Chan told reporters, “If children start to contact with Chinese culture and practice Chinese Kung Fu at an early age, their awareness and understanding of Chinese culture would be great when they grow up. I think this is crucial in Chinese culture development in the world.”
