News of the Jack Tu Celebration Event (excerpt from the [World Journal])
After a whole year of competition, the final episode of the popular TV drama “Jackie Chan’s Disciple: The finale on the Great Wall” has been aired. At the finale, JACK TU, the 23-year-old student of USA Wu Chi Kung Fu Academy, was announced as the ultimate champion. This title has won him the honor of becoming the only disciple of international action movie star Jackie Chan. On August 23rd, Headmaster SiFu Tao He of Wu Chi Kung Fu Academy held a celebration event for Jack Tu and his family. At the event, Jack Tu recounted his unforgettable experiences from the year-long competition.
Jack Tu said that he just couldn’t believe it was true that the international movie super star, Jackie Chan, was holding his hand and announcing he was the champion and his only disciple at the finale on July 26. Tu was honored that Jackie Chan passed on Chan’s father’s four encouraging words “Self-Preservation through Perseverance” to Tu for remembering to never give up.
Jack Tu recalled many hardships and challenges during the year-long competition. He and other competitors were called to an emergency gathering in freezing whether temperatures; expected to dive from a ten-meter platform; jump between buildings; and perform stunts, including car explosions and gunshots. The whole course was extremely difficult, covering the stunt repertoire of almost all of Jackie Chan’s ten years of action movies. At the end of the celebration, Jack Tu’s former Kung Fu master, Tao He, presented Jack Tu the “Disciple of Dragon” script to Jack Tu as congratulations and encouragement.
The day after the celebration at Wu Chi Kung Fu Academy, Jack Tu returned to Beijing to prepare for his first movie debut shooting “Speed post 206”. Jackie Chan is the movie producer, who tailor designed the leading role for his disciple, Jack Tu. In November, Chan will take Tu back to United States to shoot the Hollywood action comedy “The Spy Next Door”. This movie will be directed by Brain Levant, written and scripted by Jonathan Bernstein and Jim Greer.
USA Wu Chi Kung Fu Academy founder and head master, Tao He, expresses that he is very proud that his student, Jack Tu, won the Jackie Chan disciple competition, and that it is great encouragement for the Kung Fu Academy. Tao He also said that Tu’s accomplishment is not only glory for USA Wu Chi Kung Fu Academy, but it is also the glory for all the Chinese American kung fu lovers. Wu Shu has no boundaries between countries. The formula for excellence is effort plus a little talent; everyone can have hope for success. Tao He encourages his entire student body to “be free to climb the highest target in your heart!”
