Master Xianping Zhang was born in Xi'an, China in 1961, and began her Chinese Kung Fu training at the age of five. Due to her natural talent and hard work, she performed well in several regional competitions early in her career. In 1974, at the age of 13, she won the title of National Champion of Women's Long Fist, and in 1978, she became the second place winner of the China National Women’s All Around Championship.  In 1976, she enrolled in the Shanxi State Academy of Sports Technology to begin her professional Kung Fu training.  Later, she graduated from Shanxi Physical Education Institute, Department of Wushu with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Wushu (Chinese Martial Arts).

Before coming to the U.S., Master Zhang was Head Coach of the Shanxi state Wushu team, Committee Member of the Shanxi State Wushu Association, and Kung Fu Show Director of the U.S Ringling Bros. Circus.  As a member of the China Martial Arts Delegation, she made enormous contributions to the success of cultural exchanges between China and other countries around the world, visiting the U.K., Japan, Canada, Romania, and Cameroon. Because of Master Zhang’s deep understanding of Chinese Kung Fu and rich teaching experience, many of her own students have won Chinese national Wushu championships. The Shanxi government has recognized her great accomplishments in Wushu as "outstanding achievement", and she is included in The Chinese Dictionary of Famous Sportsmen. She currently holds a 6th degree black belt from the International Wushu Sanshou Dao Association.

Invited by her friend, Principal Tao He, Master Zhang joined the U.S.A Wu Chi Kung Fu Academy in 2004, and has taken charge of student training. She takes her responsibility very seriously, showing great patience with the students, instilling passion in them for Kung Fu, and building strong bonds with her students and parents. She studies diligently to improve her English to be able to communicate the intricacies of Kung Fu to her students in America.  One of her greatest desires is to help Chinese Wushu to become more prosperous in United States.
